(2) Wellington-Picton

Wir hatten uns ein Hotelzimmer fuer die 1 Nacht in Wellington genommen denn am naechsten Tag ging es mit der Autofaehre von Wellington nach Picton. Am Abend vorher hatten wir Steve & Toni (seine Frau) zum Abendessen getroffen. Ist ja schon wieder lange her und ein Wiedersehen ist immer toll.

We had a nights accommodation in a hotel room in Wellington as we had to take the car ferry the next day. The night before we met Steve & Toni (his wife) for dinner as it was already long ago since we met. Saying hello again after a while is always nice.

Meeting with Steve & Toni after years we haven't seen each other. 

It was also Steve's birthday a few weeks ago. He doesnt look his young age!

Good to catch up again! x

In Wellington die Waterfront besuchen

After our breakfast at the German Brezelmania we went to the Oriental Bay for a little walkaround.
Wir sind zur Oriental Bay gefahren nachdem wir unser Deutsches Fruehstueck von der Brezelmania hatten.

Hier haben wir 3-4 FreiwasserSchwimmer gesehen, die ein paar Kilometer geschwommen sind.

Here we saw 3-4 open water swimmers enter the water to swim a few kilometers together.

Im Hintergrund kann man schon die Autofaehre erkennen - auf die geht es gleich rauf!
In the background you can see the car ferry, that is ours to take in a few minutes!

Die Cook Straight - bietet eine tolle Landschaft an. Die See war ruhig, aber einige Passagiere nicht, die haben gut gereihert (ueberwiegend deren spielsuechtigen Blagen, die ja immer unbedingt die ganze Zeit mit Kopf runter an deren Spielekonsolen haengen muessen) Ich jedenfalls hab die meiste Zeit auf den Aussendecks der Faehre verbracht. Dort hatten Dani und ich ein nettes Schwulenpaar zum Quatschen getroffen. Die haben uns ein paar gute Reisetipps gegeben fuer das was noch auf unserem Weg lag..

The Cook Straight offers beautiful views and the sea was calm. Despite this nice fact, other passengers of the ferry were not so calm as some of them vomited, especially their annoying kids who have never anything better to do than hanging in front of their game consoles and get sea sick... I spent a fair amount of time on the outside of the ferry decks and enjoyed all views.

It was so nice to meet the gay couple on the outer deck, we had a nice chat for hours and they gave  good travel tips for what was still ahead of the travel route.

The beautiful Cook Straight - die Schoenheit der Cook Straight. Ich hatte bislang noch nicht das Vergnuegen diese gesehen zu haben. Ich bin ja immer nur in den Flieger und hatte bislang noch nicht diese Faehrenueberquerung gemacht (etwa 4 Std)

The beauty of the Cook Straight. Its the first time I am seeing this as I didnt get to take the ferry yet. I used to travel by airplane and this is new to me. Approx. 4 hrs Ferry ride ahead.

We were lucky with calm sea - wir waren gluecklich mit ruhiger See unterwegs. 

On the open sea water we even saw a large whale spewing its spray fontaine. Just a few seconds luck of looking at the right time into the right direction.

Auf dem offenen Meer haben wir sogar einen grossen Wal entdeckt der grade im richtigen Moment seine Fontaine in die Luft hochspruehte. Was fuer ein gluecklicher Zufall mit gutem Timing!

Picton naehert sich an. Auch eine Gegend die ich bislang noch nicht richtig gesehen habe und der Blick vom Meer aus ist wieder wunderschoen. Ein perfekter Tag!

Picton is coming closer. Also a place I have not been yet and the views from the sea are just beautiful again. A perfect day!
