Newcastle - Sydney

Ich war von der Arbeit aus in Newcastle, etwa 2 Std nördlich von Sydney/Australien um eine Betriebsinspection vorzunehmen, Lehrgang und Trainingseminar mit den Mitarbeitern durchzugehen und es wurde zudem eine Erfolgsfeier in der Betriebsstätte zelebriert.

I was in Newcastle, 2 h north of Sydney/Australia for work to complete training modules with the team, do site inspections and to celebrate a work achievement.

13. - 16.5.2024

Flugzeit 3 Std nach Sydney, 9:00 Uhr morgens
Flight time 3h to Sydney in the morning 9am

Ich hatte mal ne Runde Mensch ärgere dich nicht gespielt und sogar die Runde gewonnen :)
BLAUE Figur hat schon 3 im Haus und der letzte muss noch eine 2 würfeln
(was ich dann auch hatte nachdem ich das Foto gemacht hatte)

I played a round of Ludo and even won this game with the BLUE figure which already has 3 in the house, only need to roll a 2 to finish (which happened right after I took this photo below) 

Angekommen im Hotel  -  Arrived in the hotel

It's super comfy and I have never seen a shower and bath divider with only a glass wall.
Es ist super bequem aber ich habe bislang noch keine Glasswand and Trennung zum Bad gesehen.

Abends dann zum Abendessen an der Wasserfront wo viele Restaurants waren. Nur etwa 10 Minuten zu Fuss und ich war überall.

In the evening a short walk along the waterfront where all the restaurants are. Its only a 10 min walk away and its all there.

Blick auf die Kohlenanlage. Hier war damals der Kohleabbau mit viel Dreck und Schmutz verbunden. Heute ist es nur noch eine Anlage die die Kohlen auf die Schiffe lädt.

View to the coal industry which was in earlier times a blue collar town with focus on coal mining and had a lot of dirt and dust. Today, it is only the transportation and loading the coal to the coal ships.

Wieder im Hotel angekommen. Morgens gab es in reichliches Frühstücksbuffet.
Back in the hotel later. In the morning was a continental breakfast buffet served.

Das Meeresschwimmbad

Das Meeresbad hat eine Länge von 100m und ist 50m breit. Hier kann man absolut super schwimmen. Man ist im Meer, aber dennoch geschützt von den unerwünschten Meereskreaturen, die einen nicht immer das beste wollen... also dieses Pool ist immer offen und jeder kann hier umsonst schwimmen. Hier sind dennoch Rettungshelfer bis 17.30 abends, danach ist Schwimmen auf eigene Gefahr.

This ocean pool is 100m long and 50m wide. Everyone can swim here safely without the undesired marine animals. It feels very safe and this pool is open all the time and there is no entry fee to swim at your own risk. During the day there will be a lifeguard on duty up until 5.30pm.

Und so ist das Meeresschwimmbad angelegt: mit dem Sand und dem Wasser der Natur. Ohne Haie und sonstige Meerestiere macht das Schwimmen im offenen Meer viel entspannter und sicherer.

And this is what it looks like, the structure of the Ocean Pool with the sand and water of the nature. Without the risk of running into a shark or other marine animals makes it much more relaxing and safe. 

Ich war hier jeden Abend schwimmen. I was here for a swim every night!

 

Hier hab ich dann all-abendlich meine Runden gedreht. And here I swam my laps every night.

Während auf der anderen Seite ordentlich gesurft wurde. And on the other side people were surfing.

ALDI!!!
In Australien ohne zumindest beim ALDI reingefallen zu sein geht nicht!

Being in Australia without dropping in at ALDI a no go!

Hab ja alles an Gepäck bereits gut genutzt und gar nicht viel dabei gehabt für die paar Tage. Also dann mit ALDI den kleinen Reisekoffer vollmachen.

I didn't have a lot of luggage with me for the few days away. So, then let's get it filled with yummy items from ALDI!

Abendspaziergang zum Bogey Pool, ein Felsenpool neben dem Nobby's Strand. Es ist erst 18:00 Uhr aber bereits stockduster. Hatte meine Kopfleuchte dabei, also los!

An evening walk to the nearby Bogey Pool located next to the Nobby's Beach and not far away. It is only 6pm but already totally dark. Lucky I had my headlamp with me. Off we go!

Blick auf das Meerespool wo ich vorher noch schwimmen war. Jetzt strahlt und leuchtet es im Abenddunkel.

View to the nearby Ocean Pool where I swam a little while ago. Now it's shining in the distance and illuminating the beach in the darkness.

Dieses Bogey Badeloch entstand von den Wellenformationen und die Badeplatform wurde damals in 1819 von Verurteilten bei Hand aus den Felsen-Plattformen herausgehauen, damit der Major James Morisset sein persönliches Badevergnügen geniessen konnte.

This Bogey Hole was hand-hewn out of a wave-cut rock platform by convicts for Major James Morisset in 1819 for his personal use.

Am nächsten Tag ging es wieder zurück nach Auckland
