Lebenshaltungskosten in NZ

***

Its already the second day after I arrived back from Germany. The ordinary daily life has me back again. It was time to go groceries shopping, filling  up petrol as usual - weekly

An example of today to give you an idea of living costs here
(dammit, now I have to get it all back from the cabinets and cupboards to demonstrate, so the photo shows..)
$83 NZD fuer diesen Einkauf entsprechen etwa:        47,- EURO

Brot 2x quasi Toast                                                 Bread 2x
Wurst & Kaese - bereits in Dosen gepackt             Salami & cheese - already put in containers
Milch & Eier                                                           Milk and eggs
Obst, Knoblauch, Ingwer                                        Fruits, garlic and ginger
Muesli                                                                     Muesli
Kuechenrolle                                                           kitchen paper roll
Toilettenpapier                                                        Toilet paper
Packung Taschentuecher                                         Box of tissues
ne Packung Suppe, Erbsen in Dose                         canned soup and peas
Dosensuppe f. Mittags                                             some lunch soup in a can
2x Tortellini f. Mittags                                             2x tortellini for lunch

TANKEN - Petrol for the car

***
the fuel voucher from the shopping pays out to redeem at the next gas station

Benzinpreis war grade sehr guenstig: $1,84/L  entspricht etwa 1,03 EURO pro Liter Benzin
Somit voll auftanken fuer $64 NZD reicht fuer 500 km

Lucky with the petrol prices this time

Luftaufnahmen in etwa 10.000 Metern Höhe

***
I went for a weekend to Spain (Mallorca Island) to see my brother and to spend some time together.
A good chance for some nice aerial photos in about 10,000 metres.

***
Ready for landing - arrival was in Paguera close to Palma Airport.
This gigantic pan of Paella made us hungry. Now we were keen on getting one too!

Lecker!

***
Looks delicious, it was lunch time anyway and we were very hungry!

Blick aufs Meer

***
Ocean view - very enjoyable until we've been finally served with our Paella

Sehr erfrischend!

***

We decided to order only one Paella to share between us. As we all know, eyes are bigger than you think, haha.
We also got a refreshing Shanti? Not sure about spelling of this frizzy beer topped up with orange lemonade

Angekommen bei Timo

Arrived to see where my brother lives. I have to say its a very nice place to stay

view and wine just fine :-)

***
First of all a cruise through the harbour of Palma.
Later in the day we decided to go for a trip to the old castle remains. It is a bit of a hike all the way up but once you've made it, will reward with fantastic views to make it worth the effort

Now here we are at the old caste ruin

***

It took us 40 minutes to climb the up the rocks until we got to the top. It was worth it

Wahnsinn, wie weit man sehen kann

***
Just amasing views from here

***

Just a quick proof that we are really existing, now off to visit his horses on the way back

***

Isn't it funny.. there is one who's paying attention, the others don't seem to be interested at all.
Who could that be? haha

Abends in der Marina an der Hafenpromenade
***
night time at the harbour side

I love this atmosphere a lot.
Warm night time at the marina with the lights coming up and the spanish music in the background

***

What would be better and more suitable then to follow brothers advice to the secret Tapas Bar.
They offer the nicest variety of small choices for a very good price. We shared these little delicious platters and chatted all night long.

(left to right on the table) we had:
marinated sardines/anchovies
sour cabbage cooked with salmon
watermelon and feta/pine nut salad
spanish olives
crispy kelp/lemoned sea grass
aioli and grissini stick bread
and shanti beer

Next morning I had to leave and landed back in Bremen/GER. It was Monday midday and I made plans to meet with good friends who I've seen at least 6 or more years ago. Just perfect to spend a day in "my old home city" Bremen- where I spent the last couple of (10?) years before I migrated to New Zealand. Times flys when you see old friends again. We met for a stroll through the city centre, mall and ended up with coffee and cakes later on. It was already after 9pm when I arrived back to my parents that night. The next days were filled with packing and getting ready for the return flight back home to New Zealand.
