Was ist denn "Freiheits-Schwimmen" schon wieder.... fragt ihr euch bestimmt...
Tja, das ist eine Veranstaltung, die ich immer mal im Sinn hatte und machen wollte, aber nur, wenn das Wetter mitspielt. Diesen Samstag ist also gutes Wetter mit idealen Wasser- und Schwimmkonditionen, so dass ich mich kurzum entschieden habe, mich dort zu diesem Wettbewerb zu registrieren. Freiheits-Schwimmen ist Nacktschwimmen von 3 km um den Devonport-Nordkopf.
What is this "Freedom Swim" you're doing might be a question that pops up. Well, this is a slightly different swim I always had in mind to do, but only with nice weather - so, this Saturday is the ideal weather forecast with tide-assisted sea conditions, and I decided the night before to register for this swim without togs, just naked. 3 km around the Devonport North Head.

Freiheits Schwimmer gehen mit Badesachen normal ins Meer, dann vom Windsor Strand bis zum Freiheitsboot schwimmen und dort ihre Badeklamotten abgeben. Das Freitheitsboot wird dann etwa 50-100 m vor dem Cheltenham-Zielstrand auf die Schwimmer warten und denen dann wieder ihre Badeanzüge aushändigen. Niemand muss nackt am Strand rumbimmeln (es sei denn, jemand hat sich 2 Badesachen übergezogen, aber so geht das nicht) 😁
Ist nur für Erwachsene und freiwillig. Die Mehrheit wird in Neoprenanzügen schwimmen.

Freedom swimmers will swim up to our Freedom boat just off Windsor Beach and hand over their togs. The boat will be waiting for them on Cheltenham Beach 50-100 metres off the finishing area. Seniors only. There no way that swimmers need to expose their nudity in public, unless someone took 2 togs to wear 😂 The majority of swimmers will be wearing their wetsuits anyway. The small minority will enjoy the fun with something different.

Am Strand hatte ich eine echte gute Ledercouch entdeckt. Voll schönes weiches Leder, musste mal kurz Platz nehmen und das teilen!

Dann morgens rechtzeitig losgefahren und um 7:00 Uhr in Devonport mit den anderen angekommen.
I left in time and arrived in Devonport around 7:00 o'clock and the others arrived too
At first, it was a little chilly in the morning around 11 degrees C
Dann wurde es aber zunehmend ruhiger und sogar die Sonne kam raus
Then the sea got more calm and even the sun came out
There was a genuine leather couch at the beach. This was really nice soft leather and I had to do a test sit with a photo evidence to share just for the fun of it.

Am Registrier-Stand. Alle Schwimmer mussten sich melden, bestätigen und bekommen ihre Startnummer auf die Hand geschrieben. Eine zweite Nummer innen in der Hand ist für den Badeanzug damit es keine Verwechslungen gibt :)
Alle Schwimmsachen der Nackt-Schwimm-Teilnehmer haben eine Plastiknummer bekommen.
The registration gazebo - all swimmers need to be confirmed here and everyone gets their start number written on the hand and another one to identify their swimsuit, so there are no confusions later. All handed over togs have a plastic number attached to them.

Dann endlich ging es los! Finally swim start!
Nach einer Stunde Schwimmzeit war ich dann um Devonport Nordkopf herumgeschwommen und hatte fasst genau 3 Kilometer hinter mir.
After one hour swim time I mastered the 3 km swim around the Devonport North Head, I made it!
Dann wurden ein paar lustige Preise ausgehändigt, aber es war nicht wirklich ein Renn-Wettbewerb wo es ums gewinnen geht, mehr um den sozialen Spass. Die ersten beiden Schwimmer Männlein/Weiblein wurden mit einem flauschigen Bademantel gekrönt und es wurden viele weitere Gewinne ausgegeben.
Ich hatte sogar einen Cafe-Gutschein $20 gewonnen und die Person neben mir gewann eine neue hochwertige Schwimmbrille. Wir kamen ins Gespräch und ich erwähnte das ich das kaum schaffe zum Cafe zu kommen, er sagte es sei dicht dran und er wollte die Schwimmbrille nicht - also tauschten wir unsere Gewinne aus - Prima!
The prize giving took place right after the last swimmer and they announced first male and first female. Both received a fluffy bath robe but its more a social fun swim, not really a race for medals or prizes. However, my number was announced and I won a $20 Cafe voucher, the person next to me won high quality swim goggles which he didn't want. We spoke about our prizes and I said I won't use the voucher as its not in my area, but close to him. He gave me his goggles and said he won't use them so we swapped our prizes LOL

Was für eine tolle Schwimmveranstaltung. Ich werde ganz bestimmt im nächsten Jahr wieder dabeisein.
What a great swim event and I'm sure that I'll be back in the next year again.
