2025 Sommer beginnt mit den Freiwasser-Schwimmveranstaltungen im Meer!
Zumindest gefühlt ist es so, denn am ersten Donnerstagabend nach Umstellung der Sommerzeit beginnen die Sommer-Schwimmrennen im Meer mit den Summer Swim Series am Kohimarama Strand. Jeden Donnerstagabend treffen sich die Freiwasser-Schwimmer und wir sind als Kohi Kippers Schwimmgruppe wieder dabei. Es gibt auch die sog. Amphibien-Rennen mit der Schwimm-Lauf-Option, aber das ist nix für mich. Vielleicht in der Zukunft.
2025 Summertime begins with the open water swim races in the sea! At least it feels like it, as the first Thursday evening after daylight saving and changing clocks to the summer time is the first swim race of the Summer Swim Series at the Kohimarama beach. Each Thursday night, swimmers meet for their races in the open water and we all meet again as our local swim group Kohi Kippers. There's the option for some to do a swim run, called the Amphibian race, but that's not for me. Maybe in the future.

4.00pm – Registration opens
6.00pm – Registration closes
6.05pm – Race & Safety Briefing-compulsory
6.10pm – Assemble at race start
6.15pm – RACE START – all distances
7.15pm – Spot Prize
7.15pm – Cut-off for last swimmer
7.30pm – Raffle Spot Prizes - End of race

Auf dem Weg zur Bar wo die Siegerehrung stattfindet - Ich hatte noch etwa eine Stunde Zeit und nutzte den schönen Abend zum Spazierengehen, ging am Strand lang von Mission Bay - Kohimarama und schaute dem Sonnenuntergang zu.
On the way to the prize giving bar, I still had about an hour time and made the most out of this beautiful evening. I walked along the waterfront Mission Bay - Kohimarama and watched this nice sunset.

In der Kategorie Frauen, Gesamtwertung für 1500m Schwimmdistanz bin ich 4. geworden.
Es waren 65 weibliche Schwimmer am Start.
In the women's category, overall for the distance 1500m I placed 4th out of 65 female swimmers.

Nur Schwimmer, die an mindestens 8 Wettbewerben in der Sommersaison teilgenommen haben, qualifizieren sich für die Gesamtwertung.
Dann in der Altersgruppen-Kategorie bin ich auf dem 2. Platz gelandet.
Super! Wie knapp das war mit nur 4 Punkten Unterschied PUH! Nächste Saison schwimme ich dann wieder 5 Punkte schneller für eine Goldmedaille oder sehe zu, dass ich an allen Rennen teilnehme.

All swimmers who participated in at least 8 races of the summer season will qualify for the overall points. Then, in my age group, I placed second, earning silver.
Wow, how super close this was with only 4 points difference.
Next season, I'll swim 5 points faster for a gold medal, or be at ALL races if possible.
Einmal war ich mit der Wandergruppe unterwegs, und ein anderes Mal schwimmunfähig erkältet...
One race missed due to being away with the hiking group, another time sick and didn't swim...
Ich habe zur Silbermedaille sogar noch n Preis in der Tombola gewonnen: Ein Handtuch ist doch immer sehr praktisch als Schwimmer!
I also won a prize in the raffle, a towel is always great for swimmers, and the silver medal for the efforts!

3x hintereinander haben wir den Wanderpokal in unseren Händen!
For the third year in a row, we're holding the annual trophy in our hands!
Es gibt verschiedene Schwimmteams, die für den jährlichen Wanderpokal antreten.
Mein Schwimmteam hat den 1. Preis gesichert und der jährliche Wanderpokal bleibt bei uns stehen.

My swim team has achieved the 1st prize and the annual trophy stays with us another year.
Unser Team Kohi Kippers hat auch dieses Jahr wieder den Wanderpokal erhalten.
