Jahres-End-Feier (End Of Year Celebration)

Anstatt Weihnachten wird in meinem Unternehmen das Wort "Jahres-End-Feier" genutzt. Dieses meint damit, dass "Weihnachten" nicht gesagt wird und somit es kulturell und religiös an niemanden aneckt… Unsinn! Sagen wir dann auch bald Eier-Feierei statt Ostern…? Ist ja auch ein christliches Fest, und übrigens soll erwähnt werden, dass wir Ende November mit sehr reichlichem, riesengroßen gemeinsamen Essen das indische Fest der Lichter mit Diwali feiern, und am 1. Februar wird ordentliches Buffet aufgefahren, um das chinesische Neujahr einzuleiten. Ich sollte das bayerische Oktoberfest einführen :)

Instead of Christmas, our company uses the wording End Of Year Celebration to ensure that nobody feels discriminated in a cultural or religious way. Nonsense if you ask me. And soon, are we saying Egg-Party instead of Easter? It's also a Christian celebration. I should mention at this point that we are largely celebrating the Indian Diwali fest of lights and the Chinese New Year with a huge shared buffet lunch shout for all. I should consider bringing on the Bavarian Octoberfest :)

Also, heute jedenfalls war der Tag gekommen, wo wir unser "Geheimes Geschenke Vergeben", oder auch Wichteln hatten. Unsere 3. Etage im Büro hat gemeinsam daran teilgenommen, und jeder hatte sich am Tannenbaum versammelt, um sein geheimes willkürliches Geschenk auszusuchen und auszupacken. Es war mit Absicht ohne Namen diesesmal, denn es sollte komplett geheim und anonymer Spaß sein.

Well, today was the day of our "Anonymous Secret Gifting", or well known as Secret Santa. Our level 3 office partipated and gathered at the decorated tree to grab a random present and open this. We did not allocate a name draw this time as it was a complete secret who we gift for and what one will get.

Von "was zum Teufel ist das...." bis hin zu "Juhuu das ist super" war alles dabei

Reactions ranged from "what the hell is that" .... to "Yay, that's awesome"

Ich fand mein Geschenk absolut super!! Es war eine Stahl-Campingtasse und damit sehr praktisch.

I grabed a present with a steel camping mug, very convenient and practical to use.

Dann noch ein Abschluss-Foto mit allen denn gleich geht's zum Weihnachtsessen in das gegenüberliegende Restaurant. Bin schon gespannt.

Ich fand es recht schwierig die Riesenkrabben auseinander zu bekommen. Diese aufzuhämmern war mir etwas befremdlich, aber hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Ich hatte alles komplett mit den Fingern gegessen, denn es ist nahezu unmöglich, mit den Plastikhandschuhen dieses Geprökel hinzubekommen. Das Besteck ist mir immer aus den Fingern geglitten, da es so rutschig war mit meinen glitschigen Soßenhänden... Also, Hände sind doch bekanntlich immer noch das beste Werkzeug! 

Sehr lecker alles, besonders die tolle Meeresfrüchtesoße!

I found it quite challenging trying to open up the giant crab to get to the meat. Our tools comprised a hammer and tongs to crack the shell, but this was a little strange for me. At the end I ate completely with my fingers as the plastic gloves were too fiddly. The fork and knife also slipped out of my sticky saucy fingers. I had to pick the meat by hand and at the end, working with your fingers and hands gives the best feeling and taste. The sauce was delicious, and the entire meal was so well done!

Ein wahres Festessen! Und ich sehe, dass meine direkten Kollegen ganz gesittet mit Latz und Handschuhen ihr Festmahl verspeisen.

A real feast! And I see that my direct colleagues are eating tidily in a civilised manner by wearing their aprons and gloves :)

Ich bin soo voll! Konnte den Nachtisch nur knapp zur Hälfte essen und hab dann später noch was vom Schwarzwälder Kirsch. Ich glaub ich muss in den Erste-Hilfe-Raum für ein Nickerchen hahaha :)

I was so full that I thought I would need the First Aid room afterwards for a nap hahaha. The rest of the Black Forest dessert is definitely saved for later.

So, die Geschenke sind ausgepackt, das Festessen vollendet. Weihnachten ist damit nun vorbei 

So, the presents are taken & unwrapped, the festive feast is done and dusted. Christmas is over now!
