What a frustrating start to the new year which I wish to nobody.
On the 5th January 2026 I opened my curtains in the morning and my car was not there... At first I thought my vision was broken until I realised what happened. I called the Police and simultaneously checked my home CCTV surveillance cameras for useful footage. Unfortunately, the only clue I could spot was a recording of the flashlights when someone unlocks the vehicle from a distance. After that, nothing at all, a mysterious long black pause of 7 hours until the morning when I got up.
The first day back at work after a holiday break wasn't going smoothly and I worked from home. Only a couple of hours later, I suddenly received a notification on my phone which revealed the exact location of my stolen vehicle. Again, a call to notify the Police and my decision was made to drive there right now. Police was not too fond of this idea but stayed with me on the phone and placed a police car on one of the side streets to stand by. It was only a short drive of 2 km away from home and I when I arrived, I confirmed this was my car but with modified number plates.
The Police took over from here and towed it to the forensics for evidence. The insurance stepped in and covered the case, however, with some delay and hassle, but with a final happy ending, the car is back to where it belongs: TO ME.
I can not stress enough and tell you to get trackers for your belongings - otherwise you'll be lost if stuff is lost..
And the weekend before the theft, I took the kayak out and had such a great time on water...
