Ab heute bin ich offiziell "Kiwi" Neuseeländerin mit der frisch erhaltenen Neuseeländischen Staatsbürgerschaft

I am officially a "Kiwi" with the New Zealand Citizenship

Ich hatte Ende July meinen Antrag auf neuseeländische Staatsbürgerschaft gestellt und nur 5 Wochen später ist diese mittels Bestätigungsschreiben beantragt worden. Nun musste ich als letzten Schritt nur noch an der Zeremonie teilnehmen und erhalte dort mein ausgedrucktes Zertifikat und damit dann auch meinen Neuseeland Reisepass. Juhuu, nach nur 15 Jahren ist dieses endlich vollendet!

End of July/early August I submitted my application for the New Zealand Citizenship and only 5 weeks later, I had this granted. The final step is to attend a citizenship ceremony at a local event center where the citizenship certificate will be presented in an entertainment environment. After this I will be getting my New Zealand Passport - it took me only 15 years to achieve this milestone! Yay

Hier kannst du dir mit dem kurzen Video einen Eindruck verschaffen, wie eine solche Zeremonie abläuft: 

Ein kleines kulturelles Unterhaltungsprogramm mit Maori Ansprache in Te Reo, musikalischer Vorführung und Gesang mit einen Neuseeland Haka und traditionalem Stocktanz. 

Dann wird der Eidesspruch ausgesprochen und die Urkunden einzeln namentlich aufgerufen und mittels Handreichen persönlich übergeben. Am Ende der Veranstaltung werden kleine Erfrischungen im Eingang des Foyer angeboten. Wir sind aber dann zu mir nach Hause gefahren und hatten dort bei mir Abendessen gehabt. Ich hatte uns was mediteranisches vorbereitet mit gegrillten Zuccini, Auberginen, Joghurt/Tzaziki, Tomatenreis und grünen Salat. Als Nachspeise einen Joghurt Müsli Becher.

A cultural entertainment program starts with a speech in Te Reo, the Maori language followed by a musical performance including a singing and dancing show (Aotearoa Haka and traditional vocal stick dance on stage). 

Then, the affirmation and oath were spoken out, and the citizenship certificates were presented to each new citizen to celebrate the evening. Light refreshments were offered. But we went home to my place, where we had dinner together. I had prepared a home-cooked meal with grilled courgettes and aubergines with yogurt sauce, tomato rice, and a green salad. The dessert was a yogurt granola cup.
