Leben am anderen Ende der Welt: Goat Island Snorkeling / Ziegeninsel schnorcheln

Am Sonntag war ein toller sonniger Tag, 28C Grad
Meine Schwimmgruppe hatte sich zusammengetan um nach Goat Island zu fahren und dort um die Insel herumzuschwimmen. Sind etwa 2.5 km und es ist ein schönes Marine-Schutzgebiet wo angeln nicht erlaubt ist, dafür sieht man viele Fische die auf einen zuschwimmen, dich angucken und hinterschwimmen. Einen Rochen hatte ich auch unter mir der am Boden schwamm. Das Wasser war sehr klar und recht warm, gute Sicht auf das Marineleben.

On Sunday was a nice sunny warm day with 28C degree
My swim group had planned a trip up north to go to Goat Island to swim around it. Its about 2.5 km and a very pretty marine reserve where fish are approaching you and watching you in the eye. I also saw a stingray underneath me. The water was very clear so you could see the bottom with all marine life.

Angekommen! 09:05 Uhr morgens und ich habe den letzten Parkplatz bekommen.

Arrived! I turned up by 09:05 am and got the last car parking space.

Ich kam vorbereitet: Kleine Picknickbox mit Camping Kocher, Kaffee, Kekse, paar Essenskleinigkeiten, Wasser und natürlich meine transportable USB elektrische Aussendusche dabei!

haha, wie praktisch und perfekt denn zum Entsetzen aller Badegäste hatten die Duschen beim Toilettenblock KEIN Wasser! Ausser Betrieb! Aber ich musste NICHT salzig und sandig dasitzen mit klebriger Sonnenmilch auf der Haut, denn ich hatte ja mein eigenes Duschwasser 20L und die passende Autodusche dabei. Ich hatte also schön frisch hinterm Auto im Busch geduscht und mich in saubere Sachen umgezogen :)

A coffee in the morning, brewed with my camping cooker at the beach - bliss

I arrived prepared: Small picnic box with camping cooker, coffee, cookies and small snacks collection, water and of course my portable electric USB shower is always at the beach with me.

I was so glad and relieved to have this perfect little shower, because the toilet block had no showers available - out of order and no water in the beach showers! Nor for me, because I felt so happy having my own car-shower in the bush behind my ute and could enjoy a fresh shower and clean change of clothes after the salty sandy beach and sticky sunscreen :) Happy Days

In der Zwischenzeit ist der Strand voll überlaufen mit Leuten, soo viele hatte ich bislang noch nicht dort gesehen! Ich hatte mir morgens einen schattigen Platz under dem Baum ergattert, nun waren sogar alle Plätze in der prallen Sonne vergeben.

In the meantime, I noticed that the beach filled up with people everywhere. I have never seen so many people in this place. I was lucky to get there early and secured my shady cool place under the large tree. Now, even all places in the pure sun were taken.

Ich bin dann kurz for 15.00 Uhr wieder auf den Weg nach Hause und bin auf dem Rückweg über Orewa gefahren. Ich wollte n Eis, leider hatte ich aber keins, da die Schlangen zu lang waren.... Wollte nicht anstehen, also dann nach Hause und dort in die Kühltruhe sehen..

I left just before 3pm and made my way back home and drove back through Orewa. I wanted an ice cream, but not with these endless long queues.. didn't want to stand there and wait for ever, so I was off home and looked into the freezer what it had to offer instead...
