Geburtstagsparty für Gracie - birthday party for Gracie

 

Hier in Neuseeland haben alle Pferde am 1. August Geburtstag. So auch Gracie.

Meine beste wurde  nun 30 Jahre alt (ich meine jung)

Ich kann mich sehr glücklich schätzen das sie noch immer so aktiv und lustig frech ist wie ein junges Pferd. Dennoch mit den Jahren wird man vorsichtiger und will ja keine Verletzung beim Pferd riskieren.

Wir haben vom Springen Abstand nehmen müssen als Gracie ungefähr 24/25 Jahre wurde. Sie fiel mir auf das die Sprünge etwas ruckartiger wurden und daher sind die Hindernisse immer niedriger mit der Zeit geworden bis wir uns dann entschieden hatten, nicht mehr zu springen um sie zu schonen.

Dann sind wir mehr Dressur geritten und das noch immer turniermäßig bis heute um etwas Abwechslung zu bieten. Ist ja auch Spaß mal was anderes und dennoch was anzustreben.

Here in New Zealand all horses have their birthday on the 1st August, and so Gracie. My best good girl turned 30 today and I am so grateful and happy that she doesn't really feel like her age at all. She is still very cheeky and bouncy and excited as she has always been. However, with the years we took it more and more easy and stopped show jumping when she was 24/25 years of age. It just didn't feel right anymore and became more abrupt, so we didn't want to risk any injuries and the jumps became smaller with the years until I decided not to ask her over jumps and obstacles anymore.

Since then we focused more on Dressage. We are still competing in some classes for fun, for an outing and some change and its also nice to aim towards something too.

Home made horse cake with oats, apple sauce and molasses mix, decorated with some slices of carrots and apple, and a hand full of her daily feed on top presented on a slice of hay hahaha - she shared it with the hungry chickens and I was so surprised that she really ate it!

Hab einen Pferdekuchen zusammengestellt mit Haferflocken, Apfelmus und Molasse, dekoriert mit kleingeschnittenen Apfel und Möhrenstücken, dann eine gute hand voll vom Futter drumherum und auf einem Stück Heu presentiert. Ich war begeistert das Gracie das wirklich alles zusammen (geteilt mit den gierigen Hühnern) aufgegessen hat!

Nicht nur Kuchen als Geburtstagsgeschenk, es gab noch ein paar Match-Beinschoner damit die Hufe und Fesseln matchfrei bleiben und keine Mauke entsteht (eine enzündliche Hauterkrankung).

Not only a cake as a birthday present for Gracie, she also got nice new mud-guard boots to protect her  hooves and legs from the mud that causes mud fever problems, a skin irritation and inflamed dermatitis.

noch sind sie sauber, aber ich kann garantieren das in ein paar Minuten diese sauberen Schoner total voller Schlamm sind und eine neue tolle braune Farbe bekommen!

they are still clean for the moment you put them on and will turn into a wonderful brown in just a few minutes back in the muddy paddock..
